The Pencombe and Little Cowarne Women’s Institute meets at the Parish Hall on the third Tuesday of each month at 7:30pm, and we’d be delighted to welcome you.

Originally founded in 1924, our WI has a long and proud history. After a pause during and after the world wars, it was re‑established in 1971 and has been meeting continuously ever since — celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2021. Today, we’re a friendly group of 19 members, each bringing different interests, experiences, and stories.

Whether you’ve lived locally for years or have recently moved to the area, the WI is a wonderful way to meet new people, build friendships, and get involved in a supportive, welcoming community.

Why not come along one evening and see what we’re all about?

Each meeting begins with a short business section, followed by a talk, activity, discussion, or social event. We round off the evening with a cup of tea and a chat, usually finishing around 9:30pm. Take a look at our programme to discover the variety of speakers, activities, and summer outings we enjoy.

There’s no pressure to join straight away — visitors are always welcome. However, membership comes with great benefits, including reduced meeting fees, a monthly magazine, and access to a wide range of County and National WI activities, from craft and cookery workshops to social campaigns and online events.
