The Pencombe and Little Cowarne Wine Society was established in September 2021 with a memorable tasting of Majestic’s ‘Definition’ range run by Ben from the Hereford store and thoroughly enjoyed by all who attended.
Since then we have evolved into an interested group keen to taste different examples of wines from all over the world.
The club holds 5 meetings a year where we enjoy tutored tastings following a theme of interest to members. We will continue to hold the meeting price to £15.00 per head for as long as we can. We also raffle a nice bottle relating to the theme of the evening with tickets at £1 each / £5 for a strip.
The programme for 2024 is as follows:
| 2024 | ||
| February 23rd | Italian Wines (Part 2) | Return visit from Michele Longari from Hay Wines to taste more Italian wines following the success of his Part 1 presentation in 2023 |
| April 26th | French Wines for Summer Drinking | A chance to try rosés as well as whites and a light red from various regions of France. Some made from grapes that may be new to you. |
| June 28th | Call my Quaff | A ‘blind tasting’ fun evening where members present two descriptions of each wine. Each table decides which description is true, with a prize for the winning table. |
| September 27th | Wines from Chile | A tasting of red and white Chilean wines at different price points led by Majestic wines of Hereford. |
| November 29th | Wines from the Lebanon | A tasting of red and white wines of Lebanon contrasted with similar grape varietal mixtures from France. |
